smART storytime at Harbor Creative Arts

Monday, April 4th, 10am Kick off We Are ALL Readers week with your littlest ones and a smART storytime at Harbor Creative Arts! HCA owner and teacher Rachel Armentano will read one of her family's favorites, "Mixed: A Colorful Story" by Arree Chung. This storytime will be followed by an art-making activity.

Age range: 2-5 years old

Bookmaking Open Studio at Harbor Creative Arts

Tuesday, April 5th, 4-6pm Rachel Armentano of Harbor Creative Arts will host an open studio bookmaking workshop. Materials will be available to get participants started with their own unique, handmade book. This session is "open studio" format, where children will be encouraged to work independently at their own pace in the studio. Story prompts and ideas for book styles will get children started on their creative journey.


- Age range: Kindergarten - 5th grade.

- An adult must be in attendance, this is not a drop-off session.

- The anticipated visit time is 30 minutes. Guests are welcome to take their book home to finish if they do not complete it at the studio, as there will be three back-to-back sessions.

- This event is free, donations are welcome, registration is required as space is limited.

Advocating for YOU: Youth and Modern Day Civil Rights

Wednesday, April 6th, 4 - 5pm Pilar McCloud , CEO & Founder of A Sweet Creation Youth Organization, will share real-world strategies for self-advocacy and organizing. Learn how to make realistic plans to better the communities and world you live in.


Age range: high school

Finding Your Voice: Identity/Activism/Poetry Workshop

Thursday, April 7th 6:30pm Who are you? Where do you stand in the intersection of world events, high school life, and your dreams for the future? In this workshop led by poets Devin Samuels and Astrid Drew from Providence Poetry Slam, challenge yourself to amplify your voice on the page and stage, and explore how imagination can be a radical act. Participants will be invited (but not required) to share their work at an open mic at the We Are ALL Readers celebration on April 9.

Let's Make Comics! Virtual Workshop with MJ Robinson

Thursday, April 7th 3:30pm In this comics class you will play drawing games, design original cartoon characters, make collaborative comics, and create the weirdest stories ever told!

Age range: Grades 5-8
